Copyright is something that is placed on a piece of music when it is owned by a record label who have total control on how the music is used, if you wanted to use a piece of copyrighted music you will need written permission from the owner and then you will be able to use it. If you use the music without permission you could be charge and get a fine and even end up with a prison sentence.
Non-Copyrighted music is normally music by an artist that has not been signed by a record label yet, this music is available for anyone to use but you should normally ask for permission to use this music still. The artist has not got total control of people using their song for personal use like copyrighted music.

My Favourite Music Video
This is a song by The xx called 'islands' who are a indie pop band. This music video is about the breakdown of a relationship that exists between the couple dancing at the back. The set also slowly breaks down through the video which ends up in flames (representing the couples relationship being destroyed). As the video continues the colours get duller and less people are on the screen. Every time it goes back to the couple it is the same dance moves that they do, every time they go back though there is a slight change again to represent them slowly separating apart. This is my favourite music video because it is different to most other videos which also has a real meaning to it. This video uses some of the key conventions of the music videos because it uses lip syncing but does not have any instruments playing.
The Brief
Our task is to produce a music 'promo' video which has to be under 5 minutes, on my own or in a group up to four members.
i will also need to produce a 'digipak'(six panels) for its release on CD, a magazine advertisement for the digipak.
I will then need to evaluate my music promo and all my advertisements.
