Focus Group Evaluation
We created a focus group to test out our three ideas that we had came up with while brainstorming so we pitched three ideas:
- Little Red Riding Hood
- Catfish
- And a Jealous Man Turning into a 'Monster' when people try it with his woman
So we pitched these ideas to two people and listened to what they had to say about our ideas by asking what their favourite parts where and what they thought the best idea was. Once we asked these question we immediately saw that the two people involved in our focus group enjoyed our first idea the most. With the only improvement that they could think of is that we need to add more characters. Also they thought it would be a very good idea to do a spin on a classic story that everybody knows.
We also found out that they really did not like idea 3 and said there was no good points about this idea so we immediately dropped this idea as we knew it would not work and was our least favourite idea so it was easy to let go off it.
In Conclusion we will be using the first idea for our video as we think our target audience will enjoy this idea more than the other two and will in turn create a better music video overall.

Brainstorming
We had a brainstorm session where we wrote all our ideas on a piece of A3. We wanted to focus on the title of the song as its called 'Green Eyed Monster'. So we put different types of monsters down and also stories involving the monsters such as 'Twighlight' and also 'Little Red Riding Hood'. We then thought of it would be good if we could do a spoof of Little Red Riding Hood by the werewolf and Red Riding Hood was in a relatonship. Ideas for the narrative for this started at making a catfish style music video by the two meeting on a dating website and when they finally meet the werewolf would not be happy as Red Riding Hood would be a man(Terry) dressed up as her.

Lyrics For 'Green Eyed Monster' by 1984
ooh
aah
..
What is his name? Where is he from?
Why is he talking to you ooh
aah
..
What is his name? Where is he from?
Why is he talking to you for so long?
is he a friend on just an acquaintance?
..
Why is he looking so deep in your eyes?
I'm sure the stories his telling are lies,
and why do have, to laugh so much with him?
..
It's another attack of the green-eyed monster,
while i'm looking for you, wondering where you are.
Does anybody know..
that i'm with you?
While you chat, chat, chat.
To all the boys and that.
Take a deep breath, calm down.
..
So why has he texted and got your number?
Why does he say, and does her another?
Is he your friend, or something suspicious?
Haven't you get any friends who are Ladies?
All the men of all ages.
Why do you have, to be so close to them?
..
It's another attack of the green-eyed monster,
while i'm looking for you, wondering where you are.
Does anybody know..

Permission For The Song
We emailed the artist asking for permission to use 'Green Eyed Monster' however 1984 never got back to us this occasion but in previous years groups from our school have used the same song with permission so they have given permission before to a group in our school so it is almost certain they would give it to us.

Survey Results and Analysis.
These are the results for our survey that we put up to get a know what our target audience wanted. The first question was 'What was your favourite music video' this brought back a mixture of results as was expected however we can see the type of music video people liked for example if a narrative was preferred over one without a narrative. From this we can say people liked a storyline such as music videos like Thriller, The Monster and Waiting all night.
The question for this part was 'How do you view music videos' the main response from this was that people view most of their videos on YouTube. This means that the video will be seen a lot more if it was placed on YouTube rather than any other way to view music videos.
This question was a main one for our group as we wanted to make a narrative music video as we thought that would be our strong point. So looking at the result we are happy that 66% of the people surveyed rather have a narrative in a music video.
This question helped us determine the type of storyline we was going to make. And the main answer back was that people liked them to be fun so when we will be brainstorming we will be trying to think of story lines that will be fun for the audience to watch.
'What do you think creating a music video allows the artist to do?'. This question allows us to see what people think that artist try to when making music videos which allows us to mould our video around so it makes our band look like they are trying to connect with their fans.

3 Favourite Music Videos Analysis.
My Three Favourite Music Videos are:
This is a song by The xx called 'islands' who are a indie pop band. This music video is about the breakdown of a relationship that exists between the couple dancing at the back. The set also slowly breaks down through the video which ends up in flames (representing the couples relationship being destroyed). As the video continues the colours get duller and less people are on the screen. Every time it goes back to the couple it is the same dance moves that they do, every time they go back though there is a slight change again to represent them slowly separating apart
- Tyler the Creator- IFHY
- The Wombats- Anti-D
- The XX- Islands
This is one of my favourite music videos as it is very unique as it shows the characters in the video having plastic heads and walking around in a dolls house. It is very colourful in this video however if you listen to the lyrics it is not upbeat, even the title is 'IFHY' is an abbreviation for 'I fucking hate you'. I like the fact that it is very colour and does not match the song as it makes it contrapuntal.
Another one of my favourite music videos is Anti-D as it shows a person who looks very depressed surrounded by everyone being happy and happy situations surrounding them. This is representing people who are actually depressed and how even though they are surrounded by happiness they can still be vert depressed. Also as he walks down the street it is all in one shot and all the people he passes have their own little storyline for example he walks past a homeless man with a fancy car getting a man in a suit to clean it. These are all very obscure story lines.
