In Richard Dyer's theory he believes that celebrities are trendsetters by wearing what they wear their audience/ fans will copy the way the dress because they want to be like their idol. Rihanna is an excellent example of this as she has brought out her own clothing line for River Island, this allows her fans to dress like Rihanna, this shows Rihanna using this to her advantage as she knows people will buy these clothes just because she has worn something similar so it is an easy way for her to make money. Another example of Rihanna being a trend setter is to do with her hairstyles. Rihanna has had many hairstyles one of which was dying her hair red, when Rihanna done this there was many many girls who copied her, this is exactly the same for her newesthairstyle where she has shaved the sides, this again was a trend which many girls followed.
